Seven Warnings Concerning Quay

1. He is not your friend.
Nothing personal mind you. No one is. You’re either his underling, his pawn or his victim. On occasion, one might be classified as a ‘lover’ as well, but you’d be quite mistaken to assume this as something that also involves emotional attachment or affection. (Love in particular is a laughable waste of time.) Quay is to humanity as puppeteer is to his marionette, as far as he’s concerned- you’re only there for his convenience or amusement.

2. Life is a game.
And there are no rules, despite how much disagreement this may garner. Those who haven’t realized this yet do make for easy (if occasionally boring) prey, but any ill fate that befalls them can’t be blamed on anything more than their own blinded vision. Though quite skilled and manipulating the game play and participants (ie, everyone else) to suit his own needs, he’ll rarely pass on any opportunity to benefit at someone else’s expense.

3. You bore him.
Let’s face it. After decades of abusing and taking advantage of humanity and all it’s many many flaws and weakness, there’s very few of you that present him with a challenge. And he very much enjoys a good challenge. While occasionally a challenger appears that will distract and amuse him for a time, there is none he has ever met that he would consider an equal or a peer. Though please, if you think your arrogance and skills might have some impossibly slim chance of meeting his in an (un)fair game, by all means go right ahead. He always appreciates a good laugh.

4. His past is boring too.
No great tragedy. No one bullied him in school (he did that.) No major life changing experience that was pivotal in shaping Quay’s personality. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth; raised, cultured and educated in high society. He was even married once which spawned a schizophrenic assassin daughter, and very nearly earned a PhD in Psychiatry and Neurological Systems. (Shikai and his temper tantrum ruined that. Quay ruined his marriage on his own however.) In other words, if you’re looking for some reason why he ticks the way he does, you’re wasting your time. Some have evilness greatness thrust upon them and some just simply are.

5. The world is his oyster.
His mindset towards humanity is still applicable even when directed towards the rest of the world. never lacking the benefit of the best in material possessions, expensive education, and the luxurious life of high society always within easy reach. Even for the few cases when it’s not, a little creative thinking and determination will find an efficient solution to the problem. Life’s pleasures are his to be indulged in and quite often.

6. He puts a chameleon to shame.
While obviously being able to mingle with ease among society’s cream of the crop, he’s just as comfortable and befitting a dark underground hangout full of society’s lowlifes and criminals. Some situations require class, civility and refinement. He’s got that in spades. Some require brute force, intimidation and subversiveness. He also has that in spades. You might call him two-faced and disingenuous, but he would call it sensible and cunning. After all, your number one priority should always be yourself, and you’re a fool to believe differently.

7. He has no regrets.
So you hate him? Not his problem. So he’s done your wrong, broken your heart, killed your mother/dog/hopes and dreams. You aren’t even on the same playing field, so you and your opinions and emotions are meaningless. (See #1) Quay is fully aware of what and who he is, in all his purported flaws, vices and immoral perceptions. You won’t ever see him pondering the effect of his actions or his purpose in life. He already knows. He’s quite satisfied with all that he is and all that he will be while the rest of the world struggles to find happiness and enlightenment.
