Katsucon 05: In Conclusion

A week after we return and I dish out the final batch of photos. That was our trip to Katsucon. There’s more of these cons that we have to look forward to (or not) in the future, I suppose I can expect them to be as hetic as this one was. After all is said and done though, some thanks are deserved.

To everyone in the room who helped Leigh cart her load of crap around and for being so patient with her even when she got a little grumpy and short on time, for watching the table and for all their support.

Thanks to Hartman (Left) for helping her make the long drive home and who probably kept Leigh company the most on friday, and Trav (right) for buying her dinner when she was absolutely famished and hung over.

To Sheep (left) and Yuki (right) for their patience and help in carting us around evrywhere and keeping Jinsei and the kid so well entertained.

To Seiko, for being such a loyal and dedicated supporter of Schism and Leigh, and it was quite a pleasure finally being able to meet you in person.

Also thanks to Liz and Amanda for putting up with Leigh so well, and keeping the table amusing with their selling of nude-stick figure art for a quater and for their friendship after all these years, as you are both much loved and appreciated.

In the end, Leigh had mercy on my soul and allowed me ride home in the car while the kid got crammed in that godforsaken box with Jinsei. Now fuck off, I’m done being mushy.

Katsucon 05, Part Three

MY turn, My tuuuurn! XP I wish things like this happened more often, it’s so much fun getting to see so many new people! And ones my size even! =D Leigh says she’s going to bring home another one my size sometime, but that she has to get Jiko first so Shikai will be happy. And he needs to be happier. >_<

Kaien’s not nearly so grumpy as Shikai- but then it’s hard to be grumpier than him! XP

Welll.. mostly not, anyway!

Kaien was trying to convince me to dump all the pepper in Yuki’s food! Which isn’t very nice, but he says it would have been funny. But we got caught before we could do anything. XD;

I think being around lots of people like this make Shikai nervous sometimes, so it’s good Leigh brought all of us here so he’d feel a little bit better! ^^

So when’s the next one?? I wanna go out and play with everyone some more! XO

Katsucon 05, Part Two

*cough* Well, know that everyone’s had a break and enjoyed the always amusing antics of Veritas’ pranks and Shikai’s bare ass, let’s continue with the con report, shall we? ^__^

The girls really love their cameras, so I suppose it’s a good thin we’re all so photogenic! ^^ Even though we didn’t have much chance to talk to many others who frequented the con, we did get plently of opportunity to get to know Kaien more.

In some ways, he’s much like Shikai, in other ways, compeltely different. Kaien seems quicker to laugh and quicker to crack a joke, though they both share the the same air of distance- It’s a shame he doesn’t live closer to us, perhaps they could learn soemthing from each other.

I have to admit, I tend to be distant from people as well, though my reasonings for being this way are quite different. Shikai just doesn’t know how to deal with people. Kaien’s reasons aren’t entirely clear to me just yet. As for mine.. well. We’ll save those for another time.

But all in all, despite some slight problems (Such as Shikai threanening to toss Vikas out the window, Kaien’s improtu surgery) it was quite a worthwhile event to go to.

Leigh’s mentioned constantly how cons are quite chaotic and exhausting at times, and I think I’m inclined to agree with her. But it’s moments like these where everyone’s relaxed and (more or less) enjoying themselve are what make all the hassles and preperations to get to said con well-worth the effort.

And we’ll be seeing more of Kaien in the fture I’m sure. I’ll be looking forward to it! ^^

ATTENTION: JIKO

Katsucon 05, Part One

While Sugoicon was attended purely for (Leigh’s) fun, this convention had some striking differences, one of them being that it is a much larger convention and one that many other fellow BJDs attend.

The other difference being in that we were also there to work. As such, we spent a good deal of time with Leigh at her table in the Artist’s Alley selling her artwork and tshirts, most of which (of course) were of the comic/biography.

Kaien also joined us much of the time. He has a Yuki and shared the hotel room with us. Similar to my brother and I, he was transported here stuffed in a backpack. The kid, however, somehow got the honor of sitting in the laps of the humans who came along with us in the car. >>

I probably don’t need to repeat that I’ve never been good at socializing. Jinsei however, is much better than I am, thankfully. His headmold had a number of fellow BJD fans asking questions about him, so between that and genera questions about BJDs by those new to the hobby, Leigh was kept quite busy. (ATTN: Sadame, learn to answer you phone.)

Seiko, my designated bodyguard against rabid fangirls, brought me this pest, Soeki. I can’t really say he’s my cat, as he adopted me some time ago, rather than me adopting him. He’s an annoying little troublemaker, though his unique ability to locate me wherever I go doesn’t cease to bring a sense of wonder. Almost refreshing in a strange way, since he had been missing for quite some time and in seeing something familiar surface among the large amounts of chaos these gatherings bring.

The kid seems to like him too. I do worry about what will happen to the annoyance levels when they combine their powers. But compared to the nature on anime conventions, it’s a type annoyance that’s become rather comfortable. The kind that reassures you that yes, you are home for once.
