1. He is not your friend.
Nothing personal mind you. No one is. You’re either his underling, his pawn or his victim. On occasion, one might be classified as a ‘lover’ as well, but you’d be quite mistaken to assume this as something that also involves emotional attachment or affection. (Love in particular is a laughable waste of time.) Quay is to humanity as puppeteer is to his marionette, as far as he’s concerned- you’re only there for his convenience or amusement.
2. Life is a game.
And there are no rules, despite how much disagreement this may garner. Those who haven’t realized this yet do make for easy (if occasionally boring) prey, but any ill fate that befalls them can’t be blamed on anything more than their own blinded vision. Though quite skilled and manipulating the game play and participants (ie, everyone else) to suit his own needs, he’ll rarely pass on any opportunity to benefit at someone else’s expense.
